Butter milk is an Indian cooler, loved in almost all regions of India. This is a yogurt based drink with salt and some seasoning and is very refreshing specially during summer! On a hot day, it just works wonder as its a good antioxidant to beat the heat! A little different variant is also popular in Mediterranean cuisine as Ayran!

Yogurt drink has many varieties in India, it is sweet, salty, spicy and plain! Depending upon which region you are in, the method of preparing this quick drink varies.
This one here is salty butter milk without any tempering, takes few minutes and all you require is a blender! Traditionally this was made using wooden non electric hand blender while churning butter at home. The left over residual was actually the authentic and traditional buttermilk!
▪ 4 teaspoon yogurt
▪ 1 cup water
▪ 1/2 cup ice
▪ 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
▪ Few leaves of cilantro/mint leaves
▪ Salt and pepper to taste
▪ Dry roast the cumin seeds and coarsely crush using rolling pin or mortar and pestle.
▪ In a blender, mix ice, yogurt, water, salt and pepper to taste and half of crushed cumin seeds.
▪ Blend for 3-5 mintues.
▪ Serve chilled, garnished with cumin seeds and cilantro/mint leaves!
